This is my second collaboration with Baco Exu do Blues, where we dive into his vision of self-perception and identity as a Black man. Filmed amid the evocative landscapes of northern Brazil, this musical short brings Baco’s inner world to life, capturing how he wishes to be seen and understood.

Fresno’s new album, "Eu Nunca Fui Embora" ("I Never Left"), gave me the chance to lead the creative direction for both the album cover and the music videos. We did a photoshoot with the band in Los Angeles and used risograph printing on some of the photos to get the texture just right.

During this time, we also filmed two music videos: one for the album’s title track, which was released first.

me and you (f*da eu você)

...and another for "Me and You" which we filmed in 16mm. The storyline for Me and You was inspired by a real "kissing marathon" event that took place at a mall in Santos (Brazil) back in the 90's.

TIM
BERNARDES

Tim Bernardes is one of the leading voices in Brazilian MPB today. We first crossed paths while filming for Gucci a while back, and since then, we’ve stayed in touch, exploring ideas for future collaborations. During one of his visits to Los Angeles, we captured this session at the legendary Sound City Studios, where iconic albums like Nirvana’s Nevermind and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors were born.

karen
jonz

Karen Jonz is a rising artist known for her incredible background as a professional skater and 4-time X Games world champion. Always musically inclined, she began recording tracks at home and, in 2023, took the leap to release her debut album, Papel de Carta. To mark the occasion, we shot two music videos in Los Angeles. The first, "CooCoo Crazy", was captured on Super 8 film and stars her daughter, Sky Jonz, alongside the iconic 2000s indie band CSS. Together, they perform an epic Jutsu battle where Karen manipulates size and scale while Lovefoxx plays with time travel.

LUDMILLA

This was hands-down one of the most intense projects I’ve worked on in music. I was invited by Ludmillas creative director to transform the live screens and broadcast at The Town, one of Brazil’s largest festivals, into a cinematic visual experience. Our team added 13 additional cameras—on top of the 10 provided by the festival—to capture her performance from every angle. The goal was to make the audience feel right beside her on stage and give viewers at home a fully immersive experience. With Nicole Kirkland’s choreography in motion, our operators moved among the dancers on stage. This was the first time any artist in the country had done something like this, and it sparked a massive media response, becoming a top global topic on X.

beat

Even with Natura’s sponsorship, we had great creative freedom for Duda Beat’s music video, allowing us to evoke the feel of a Brazilian summer day in a bold, stylized way. We crafted an expansive 360º beach set—bringing in 30 tons of sand to build a scenographic world that was vibrant and immersive. And it turned out to be quite the showpiece!

JAH VAN

Bid, a renowned Brazilian producer, took on an ambitious project titled Jah Van, a reggae tribute album honoring one of Brazil’s greatest artists, Djavan. The album is a true masterpiece, featuring an impressive lineup of musicians on each track. I was honored to be part of this journey, filming one of my favorite Djavan songs, Sina, entirely on Super 8mm film. Along the way, we captured a spontaneous ‘family album’ portrait with the entire cast—a moment I couldn’t let go unrecorded, even though it wasn’t part of the official deliverables. It’s a beautiful memory that was worth preserving.

fresno

For my second collaboration with Fresno, the band was feeling the impact of not being able to tour for their previous album due to Covid. Their work during confinement led to "Vou Ter Que Me Virar"—which translates loosely to ‘I’ll have to figure it out’ in English—a title that speaks to overcoming the sense of being trapped in the uncertainty that confinement brought. The first music video, which shares the album’s title, feels almost deserted; they set up a robotic camera to film themselves, capturing the isolation of that time.

jÁ faz tanto tempo

The second video, "Já Faz Tanto Tempo" (‘It’s Been So Long’), features one of Brazil’s legendary pop-rock icons, Lulu Santos. I grew up listening to his songs, so getting the chance to film with him was incredibly nostalgic and an absolute highlight.

For the cover art and entire media package this time, we worked with cyanotype images. We photographed the band in the studio, then I transferred the images onto transparent film at home and used sunlight and chemicals to burn the photos onto paper. This process gave the visuals a raw, handcrafted feel that perfectly complements the album’s themes.

thiago
pethit

I’ve known Thiago Pethit for quite some time. Beyond his music, I first had the chance to work with him as an actor when I was the DP for my first feature, "Restless Love". For his album "Mal dos Trópicos (Queda e Ascenção de Orfeu da Consolação)"—Tropical Malady (The Fall and Rise of Orpheus of Consolação)—we created multiple pieces: a music video for the track Orfeu and a full album visualizer that I think turned out beautifully. We chose to capture filmed still photos, almost like moving paintings, to bring each scene to life.

manhãs de domingo

baco exu do blues

First time I saw Baco was in a concert in Rio de Janeiro in 2018. He was starting to get known in Brazil. I filmed some cool stories during the show and tagged him. The day after he asked if wanted to do some music videos with him. And that's how our friendship started. We shot 3 music videos in one day, no money, just a friend and a camera. And that was it!!

"Sua Alegria foi Cancelada" (Your Joy Has Been Canceled) marked my first collaboration with Fresno, and they gave me complete creative freedom and ample time to develop ideas. For the launch, we crafted 42 Instagram posts to turn the release into an interactive experience. Fans were asked to hit certain like or share milestones to unlock the next album hint. It was one of the most enjoyable projects I’ve worked on, featuring a mix of photos, collages, and lyric videos.
